Administrative Office

The Head Start/Early Head Start Program is a federally funded and locally administered by community-based program that provides comprehensive services to children 12 months through the age of four and families. The program offers a team management approach to provide quality services for children and families.

Services Provided:

Education: Structured activities allow each child to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally in a culturally-sensitive environment. Qualified staff provide children with a variety of skills that have been identified as predictive of later reading achievement, school readiness and school success.

Nutrition: Children are provided a free breakfast, lunch, and snack serviced in a family-style setting following USDA guidelines.
Health Services: Routine medical and dental screening follow-up are provided for children. Families are connected to medical and dental “homes” to ensure continuity of quality health care.

Family Services: Family-centered services are offered based upon parental input to strengthen families and move them toward self-sufficiency.

Transportation: Transportation is available to all head start students attending the program including children with disabilities.

Parent Involvement/Volunteer Services: The involvement of parents in HS/EHS is critical to the child’s growth and development. Parents received training in HS/EHS policies, child development, school readiness, and are encouraged to volunteer in the centers. As members of the Policy Council and the Board of Directors, parents also have a voice in policy making decisions.
